Visual fields
During this examination, the patient is requested to look straight ahead where light points of various intensity are projected for a map of the patient’s visual field to be drawn. This examination records the percentage of nerve fibers that have been damaged due to glaucoma.
This examination is based on the patient’s ability to recognize light in all areas of the retina and needs to be repeated regularly. Regular testing helps your ophthalmologist determine any possible changes in the visual field and monitor possible deterioration.
